IPMAN threatens to shut down filling stations over police attacks

The Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria (IPMAN), said their members may shut down all filling stations and cut down supplies should the federal government and Inspector General of Police fail to address attacks by the police force on their members. The group said the action may take effect from Tomorrow (Tuesday). National Public Relation Officer of IPMAN, Yakubu Suleiman, disclosed this on Sunday, in an interview with journalists in Jos. Court sentences 21yrs-old Enugu undergraduate to 2yrs imprisonment over impersonation

The Federal High Court sitting in Enugu State has sentenced a 21-year-old undergraduate, Osondu Nnamere, to two years imprisonment for engaging in cybercrime, defrauding Nigerians and foreigners. Nnamere was sentenced to two years jail term by the court after been found guilty for impersonating a foreign national, identified as Gopa, to swindle people through cyberspace. The 21-year-old student was arraigned before the court presided over by Justice I .M Buba, on a one-count charge bordering on criminal impersonation by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) Zonal office in Enugu. One of the counts against Nnamere reads: “that you Nnamere on or about the 9th day June 2021 in Enugu within the jurisdiction of this Honourable Court, fraudulently impersonated one Gopa, a foreign national by means of your Samsung A20S, through a fake WhatsApp account, with intent to obtain money from unsuspecting foreign nationals”. Former President of Zambia Kenneth Kaunda led Zambia into independence from Britain - ruling the country from 1964 until 1991. President Cyril Ramaphosa has declared 10 days of mourning to honour the late former Zambian President, Kenneth Kaunda. The elderly statesman succumbed to pneumonia while in a hospital in Lusaka on Thursday. Kaunda was Zambia’s first democratically elected president post-independence from Britain. Nurse allegedly robbed and stabbed on bus by one-chance operators in Lagos

A man has narrated how a nurse was allegedly stabbed by one-chance operators and he alleges that she cried out to the police for help during the attack but they did nothing. He explained that the nurse boarded one of those commercial mini buses from Lekki to the mainland. However, while passing Ikoyi, she realized her fellow passengers were robbers as they brought out knives and threatened to stab her if she doesn't hand over her belongings. As they passed a police checkpoint along Dolphin Estate road, she is said to have screamed for help but the police allegedly did nothing. After she was robbed, stabbed, and tossed out of the bus, she went to the nearest police station to report the robbery. According to her, the police officers at the first station said they had closed.
